Recorded at the Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique (European institute for science about music and sound and avant garde electro-acoustical art music), this work for Japanese traditional flute was the result of a collaboration with French composer Jerome Combier which took place in 1999 in Japan.

concert performance and video available as internet audio/video stream on the BBC website.

The piece was shown as a live video stream to accompany an interview I gave on Radio 3 regarding possible comparisons between modern multimedia art and notions of Gesamptkunstwerk.

The work examines the influence of physicality on perception, and in place of a rationalised mental analytic process, the work advocates a focus on deep breathing in combination with physical action as a way in which to engage with and access understanding of ourselves and surroundings.
